Malaysian 2010 trip pix

Some cool shots I took of Bentong, Pahang.
We stopped by for lunch on the way to a waterfall and other adventures.

Ran into these tailor sewing a policeman's jacket. I told them that I am going to take pictures of them for my paintings. They were very polite and kind enough to pose for me. The man on the right pointing instructed me to give his friend a mustache. I just laughed. I gave them my business card hoping they will look me up. We'll see.

These are my new inspirations for my next series of artwork.

Buenos Aires Trip Pix, 2009

Casa Rosada
One of the world's most famous balconies juts out of Argentina's Presidential Palace, known as the Casa Rosada. The pink building has been the scene of many a political rally, particularly during the regime of the notorious and tragic Juan and Eva Peron....

La Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires Trip 2009

La Recoleta Cemetery is a famous cemetery located in the exclusive Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The layout of the cemetery was designed by the French engineer Próspero Catelin, and was remodeled in 1881, while Torcuato de Alvear was mayor of the city, by the Italian architect Juan Antonio Buschiazzo.

The Cemetery includes graves of some of the most influential and important Argentinians, including several presidents, scientists, and wealthy characters. Internationally, Eva Perón is the best-known person buried in this cemetery.

The entrance to the cemetery is through neo-classical gates with tall Greek columns. The cemetery contains many elaborate marble mausoleums, decorated with statues, in a wide variety of architectural styles. The entire cemetery is laid out in sections like city blocks, with wide tree-lined main walkways branching into sidewalks filled with mausoleums.

While many of the mausoleums are in fine shape and well-maintained, others have fallen into disrepair. Several can be found with broken glass and littered with rubbish.

Each mausoleum bears the family name etched into the facade; brass or bronze plaques are added to the front for particular family members. La Recoleta is one of those cemeteries where the tradition of engraving a death date but no birth date has been maintained.

The cemetery was featured in the educational film Destinos as the final resting spot of a wife of the main character.

Red Kite Runner
Oil On Canvas 24”H x 30”W
This painting represents the feeling of freedom that I experience whenever I am enjoying a calm and breezy day at the beach. The sight of people and hearing their voices gives me comfort. For sale at Leopold Gallery.

Rocks on Rodeo Beach 2
Oil On Canvas 18”H x 24”W
This is one of my favorites of the “Rocks on Rodeo Beach” series. For this painting to impress me, I knew the colors would have to be exquisite. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I did creating it. For sale at Leopold Gallery.
