My Bio

Taken in Petaling Jaya Posted by Picasa

I was born and raised in Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but I currently live in the states. I received my BFA from The Kansas City Art Institute in 2001 with an emphasis in Illustration. I live life to the fullest by traveling, performer (mambo) and supporting my painting career as a full-time designer. I am certained that I was born to inspire. Who knows, perhaps that is truly my purpose in life.

Recently I find myself greatly inspired by musicians especially live concerts. I usually paint to various live performances by Incubus, Ben Harper and many more. The energy in their performances with thousands of fans singing along and with their success gives me a tremendous rush and motivation to create.

To be better at what i do, I have to learn how to teach and inspire others. Please visit my website for some samples of my work in the last 8 years. (www.allanchow.com)

In my sparetime aside from painting, i create and inspire on the dance floor. I am a performer and instructor for Latin Rhythm Dance Productions in Kansas City. (www.kcsalsa.com) I have learned between the time i started learning how to dance in 2001 and today that growing as a dancer is no different than growing as a painter. The fundamentals are the same. It's all about your attitude. A beginner with the right attitude is one who will achieve greatest heights.

I must end by saying that family and friends are my precious gifts from God. Life is short indeed so live life to the fullest and remember we all deserve the very best in life so never settle for less.

Until next time,
Thanks for reading.

Today i woke up feeling fully rested for the first time in a month. After years of working late in my studio preparing for upcoming exhibitions, putting on final touches to commissions and supporting my habit of long hours and nights of Mambo, my body is starting to tell me stop for a second, 'Get some REST.' So i did. I am afraid resting is my cure and so be it. It'll take weeks to fully heal but its worth it. But wait! Why am i complaining? Anyway, today I carry on with my day as a proud newspaper editorial designer/illustrator by day as well as an Art Director for a Student Design Agency at a local college by night fall.
